Second Annual "Wade in the Water"
Conference Centers on Activities in Homes
The Christian Family Toolbox: Activities
for Spiritual Growth in the Home, sponsored by Living Waters
House in Brownsville, Tennessee, is set for 9:30a.m. – 4:00p.m., Tuesday,
October 16, 2001.
The speaker for this year's Wade in the Waters
Conference is the Rev. David Robinson, author of The Family Cloister:
Benedictine Wisdom for the Home and the soon-to-be released The
Christian Family Toolbox: 52 Benedictine Activities for the Home.
Many Christians today are rediscovering the wisdom
of St. Benedict's ancient rule. David Robinson, a Presbyterian minister
and father of three teenage boys, has adapted Benedict's enduring monastic
way of life to his contemporary family. In his books and in the one-day
retreat offered on the subject, Robinson relates the seven key teachings
and some related activities from the Rule that are helping his family
maintain peace and stability. These are: Family Design, Spirituality,
Discipline, Health, Life Together, Service and Hospitality, and Growth.
At this conference, Robinson will invite participants to walk the garden
paths of Benedictine spirituality. Christian families of all sizes will
find Robinson's guidance and teaching to be Scripturally-based, timely,
and most of all, practical and down-to-earth. Our hope is that you'll
encounter God along these garden paths, grow more fruitful in your family
garden, as you journey together further into the family cloister.
Dress is casual, lunch will be provided. Suggested
donation is $25.00 with lunch included. If interested please call Dr.
Cindy Schwartz at Living Waters House, 731-772-9533.
