General Assembly 225 Spotlight
The 225th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church gets under way this week in Louisville Kentucky. Well, sort of.
For a variety of reasons, the 225th GA will open with “hybrid” plenaries at which the GA Manual will be amended (by a quorum of “in person” attendees) to allow for electronic meetings. The opening plenaries will also include the election of the next Co-Moderators. Meet the candidates here: https://ga-pcusa.org/mod-candidates/.
Commissioners and delegates will then gather in person for committee meetings in four groups at the Presbyterian Center in Louisville over the course of the next several weeks, followed by entirely virtual plenaries to act on reports and recommendations the first week of July.
The Synod of Living Waters will be well represented at the Assembly, with commissioners from our bounds on every single assembly committee (of which there are 19 in all).
The plenaries and committee meetings will all be live-streamed this time. You can find dockets, links to livestream sessions, and various other items of interest on the main 225th General Assembly website, here: https://ga-pcusa.org/. On the top right of that home screen is a button titled “MyGA,” which is the primary website for both participants in the assembly and observers to access the assembly’s business (on the PC-Biz tab), and items related to assembly arrangements (on the GA Connections tab). The “Resources” tab on PC-Biz includes more detailed information on the Assembly, and instructions for how to use this system to locate and view the Assembly’s actions related to any specific business items of interest to you.
No logins or accounts are required to access any of these resources. So consider adding the PC(USA) 225th General Assembly to your “binge watching” list in the coming weeks. And please pray for all those who will be discerning and deciding important matters for the life of our church together – especially our synod’s commissioners and delegates!
